The COVR Photo team wanted to take a moment to update you on what we’ve been up to over the past few months, the status of our COVR Photo case for the iPhone 6/6s, and to send you a little thank you.
We spent most of the summer manufacturing the COVR Photo 6/6s case, sampling and making edits, approving production, designing product packaging, and enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest summer. COVR Backers...
One of the core beliefs at COVR Photo is living real. The COVR Photo Lens Case is designed to help anyone who believes in the true beauty of real, to capture pictures and videos that will last for generations because they are real - not posed, real – not interrupted, real – because they're found, not contrived.
COVR 6 – Where We Are!
We're excited to announce that we’ll be awarding the COVR 6 manufacturing contract to one of the two remaining companies next week! We have been hard at work reviewing estimates from manufacturers across the U.S. and overseas, making cost effective design improvements on the COVR 6 case, and negotiating down the price of manufacturing – tooling and molding - as much as we can.
While we’re not as far along in this process as we want to be right now; as a new startup we continually have to weigh what we can achieve with the finances we have. This in turn means we have to be more diligent with our business decisions/spending and that process can slow things down, especially when you’re choosing the manufacturer for your next big product launch – picking the wrong manufacturer at this early stage of our company could sink us completely.
We wish it was that easy, but there are just so many factors that play into knowing when we’ll be shipping – we are going on record to say end of April and fight like mad to make it so. We had been pressing for March delivery, but again, we can’t throw wads of cash at it and we’re unwillingly to sacrifice quality for rush and speed (We will never compromise quality – it’s wrongful towards COVR customers). So, end of April is longer then we want, but it’s the soonest we can aim for without sacrificing quality.
We want to mention it here first, before discussing the COVR 6 Plus case. We are going to launch a COVR 6 Kickstarter campaign to help pay for the COVR 6 tooling cost. While we don’t need to wait for this Kickstarter campaign to complete before we begin manufacturing as we have enough to put the first payment down, but we'll need to raise the remaining funds for the tooling cost. Given our success in our first COVR 5 Kickstarter campaign we have little concern we’ll be able to reach our much smaller goal of $30-35k (our first campaign raised over $85,000). The COVR 5 Kickstarter backers, who’ve supported us from day one and have asked if they could change their reward to the COVR 6, will not have to back the new COVR 6 Kickstarter Campaign. We are putting the finishing touches on our campaign and hoping to be live in the next few weeks and will have more updates on this launch as we get closer.
While we wish we had a ton to share on the COVR 6 Plus, what we can say is that everything we’re doing with the COVR 5 & COVR 6 today is laying the track for the COVR 6 Plus case to come in to existence faster with an even better design than our first two cases. We don’t have a timeline on COVR 6 Plus right now, as we’re only big enough to handle one manufacturing product at a time right now. As we grow and expand we may be in a position to launch different COVR models simultaneously, but for now we are focusing on launching the COVR 6 and then the 6 Plus. One definite benefit will be that everything we’ve designed and built with the COVR 6 will simply be put on steroids for the COVR 6 Plus, which means faster design, tooling, molding and delivering. We’ll continue to post more pertinent information as we have it.

Happy New Year COVR Photo Backers!
This year is going to make or break COVR Photo and I’m working my backside off to make, make, make!
I am excited to announce that today, Thursday, January 8th, 2015 I met with our engineer and picked up the first COVR Photo Lens Case prototype for the iPhone 6…and I LOVE IT!
The design for this case is still slim, but because the Apple designed the 6 so slim, it gave us room to create a slim case that offers even more protection, durability, and shock resistance than that of our COVR 5/5s case. The COVR 6 will be made up of a durable rubber sleeve that will wrap snuggly around your iPhone 6 and then a hardcover shell, with the sliding COVR lens built into it, will fasten securely around the rubber sleeve (See the quick pics I shot and posted below).

What Next and When?
Engineer Steve and I will be testing and measuring the prototype for the next week and begin making critical changes to ensure the design specs are perfect before we begin manufacturing COVR 6.
Having learned some important lessons from designing and manufacturing the COVR 5/5s, this process will move smoother.
Our goal is to be shipping the COVR 6 case in March. There is a ton of work to do between now and then, but March is the goal.
The COVR 6 PLUS
For those of you waiting for the COVR 6 PLUS know that we’re already white-boarding the design, however, I can’t offer timeline for manufacturing and shipping this model until we have the COVR 6 further along. I will continue to keep you informed with each new update.

Hi Everyone,
This is a much more informal update than all the others because of how busy we've been shipping cases. In the last several days we've shipped literally hundreds of cases all over the world. I've got another 300+ cases packaged and going out this morning. We'll just continue to shipping until everyone has their case. Many of you have received an automated email from us with your tracking number so you'll be able to track your package. If you have not received your email you will be.
