COVR Backers…

I'm thankful that this week we've be able to continue shipping smaller quantities of COVR cases to you, but I’m excited to announce, but mostly relieved, to announce that our local case manufacturer has the tooling and COVR Photo case production begins tomorrow with a test run and then full production runs this weekend!

We are shipping cases immediately after they come off the assembly line and we'll email each person to notify them when their case has left our office on its way to your home.

*International Costumers; We cannot control the time it will take for your COVR case to clear customs in your particular country, but you will be notified when it has shipped and the tracking number for your package.

I will share some pictures from the manufacturing plant as soon as we are up and running!

Shipping Feels More Like a Trickle Than a Gush

COVR Backers…

Apologies for the late update this week, but it’s been a crazy one for sure.

To this point we’ve been able to ship cases today and we’ll have more out on Monday, but it’s not the big shipping boom we were expecting. We’re meeting with the manager of the manufacturing facility on Monday morning to see what the hold up is to getting the larger run of cases done.

The prism lenses are completed and as some of you have already noticed, the COVR Photo mobile app has been approved and is now available on the App Store. We had hoped to time the COVR App launch with everyone having there cases, but for those who have received or will be receiving their cases in the next few days I’m reposting our section on the COVR Photo Mobile App.

COVR Photo Mobile App

As I have mentioned in some of our earliest updates, we built a free COVR Photo App that goes with our COVR Photo case. The app has the basic features we're all accustomed to in mobile photography apps, but there are two important features built specifically for photographers or anyone using the COVR Photo case.

First, when using the COVR lens to shoot pictures or video, the COVR Photo app automatically reorients the image so you see what you're shooting correctly - right side up (without the COVR Photo app your image/video will appear upside down and reversed on your iPhone screen and in your photo library). Second, and the most exciting feature…our signature feature, is the COVR Photo App’s Lens Switch button.

As someone who spent almost 20 years as a photojournalist (you can visit my website here), I know all too well how real moments can quickly appear and evolve from an interesting picture to an amazing picture right before your lens. As a moment evolves or changes photographers use different types of lenses to capture that moment, which can leave the final picture with a different look, feel, or style. Pro photographers have the freedom of achieving this functionality through multiple cameras with multiple types of lenses that give them that different look, feel, or style they're after and allow them to switch from lens to lens quickly and seamlessly. SO, I wanted iPhone photographers to have that same option, apart from having to carry two or three iPhones with two or three detachable lenses on each. My dream was to help photographers, pros or amateurs, moms or dads, or anyone who shoots with their iPhone, to always be ready to capture sudden moments – that’s why the COVR lens is built into a case, so you never need to attach or detach a lens. It’s also why I built the COVR lens to slide back and forth – so you can instantly switch from using your COVR lens to your built in Apple lens. Our COVR Photo App signature feature, the Lens Switch button, seamlessly reorients the lens perspective from COVR to standard, giving you the option of instantly switching between the two lenses without having to jump to another photo app and letting you decide the look, feel, and style of image you want to capture.

Here is a simple graphic I pasted together of what the COVR Photo App will actually look like on your iPhone;

Please feel free to email me directly with questions or comments (email listed below) – I’m working to reply to each email personally.

Sincerely,

Thomas

COVR Backers…

Everything is coming together as we speak…the COVR prisms are in full blown production, COVR case tooling is en route to the manufacturer here in the Seattle area and I’ll be at the manufacturing plant when the cases start coming off the assembly line. I submitted the free COVR Photo Mobile App to Apple for approval last week (COVR app features shared below) and everything looks to be going smoothly.

If everything stays on track we should be assembling and shipping cases towards the end of next week. If we hit any minor snags I’ll be sure to let everyone know in the following updates, but for now everything looks like an overdue and welcomed crash course on shipping!

As I said above, we submitted our app to Apple last week and we’ll have the app ready for everyone to download by the time everyone starts receiving their cases. In the meantime we are already working on app updates to enhance and provide you with more shooting and editing options. Here are a few more details;

COVR Photo Case for iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus

While I know everyone is chomping at the bit to get their COVR 5/5s case, several hundred COVR Backers have asked to switch their order to the COVR 6 or COVR 6 Plus cases and I want those COVR Backers to know that we have two different engineers already working on those case designs. I will continue to update our COVR 6/6Plus users as we move towards prototyping, tooling, manufacturing, assembly, packaging and delivery – just as I’ve done through our journey with the COVR 5/5s case.

You Still Have Time!

If you’d still like to switch your order from the COVR 5/5s case to the COVR 6 or COVR 6 Plus it is not too late, but you only have a few more days to decide as we need to begin locking down the shipping lists and getting everything in order to begin shipping cases.

Lastly, we are almost there so stay with us! We’ll begin notifying everyone when their case ships and as always, I’ll have another update next week and let you know all the developments.

Please feel free to email me directly with questions or comments at covrphoto/contact

Sincerely,

Thomas
